Economic Activism Highlights
- In May 2021, Norway's $1.3 trillion sovereign wealth fund, Norway's Government Pension Fund, announced that it will be divesting from Mivne Real Estate KD Ltd and Shapir Engineering and Industry Ltd, two Israeli companies involved in Israel's occupation of the West Bank. Norges Bank Investment Management, which oversees the fund, stated that its decision was "due to an unacceptable risk" that the companies are violating "the rights of individuals in situations of war or conflict." - In October 2020, Fresno State University’s student government voted in favor of a divestment resolution calling for the university to divest from the 112 companies linked to the illegal settlements in Palestine, as listed by the United Nations.
